Lost in Translation - Film Analysis Report

Summary and Analysis

Bob came to Japan for advertisement. But, nobody didn’t understand Bob’s English in Japan. Also there has no friend. So he felt very boring about life in Japan. Charlotte is a photographer's girlfriend.
She came to Japan for her boyfriend's work. Every day the boyfriend goes out for work and she has nothing in the hotel. So she felt very boring, too. Bob and Charlotte were stayed at the same hotel. One day they met in a bar, they knew that they have a same feeling in there and they became a friend and their relationship was closed very quickly. They enjoyed the time in Japan for 7 days, In last day Bob left. Before he left he told her something, but in the movie didn't mention what they talked about. Just let audience curious about the conversation. Nobody knows the conversation's content, but I think the conversation was the best point of the movie and charm.

Relation to Case Study

In the case study from chapter 12 and in Lost in Transition, I could see the similar things. The main characters were come to the foreign country. Also they feel lonely. Also they are hard to make a friends Also they are not a talkative people. Both of case were trying to describe about difficult of adapting to another country. And then, Dita was trying to feel not lonely and Bob and Charlotte trying to feel not lonely and find someone and found them.

Reaction to Film

In my opinion, it’s very hard to find friends in another country. Also, adapting a culture is very difficult. Because of the movie and case study, I knew that do not feel lonely in another country is making friends who has a common thinking and mind. Then you will not feel lonely than you do not have any friends. So I recomand that making friends is very important.
